Adventures with Hank the Hermit Crab is based on a true story. Many moons ago, Kricket’s son, Liam, had a pet hermit crab. Liam came home from school one day to find his hermit crab’s habitat, also known as a "crabitat", tipped over and emptied out on his bedroom floor. Worst of all, the hermit crab was missing! Liam was very upset and assumed his family’s cats ate the hermit crab. Each evening the hermit crab went missing, Kricket would create a fun scenario as to what he was doing while he was away. Miraculously, the hermit crab returned on his own to Liam’s room unharmed one week later. Following his return, Kricket wrote a children’s book from the hermit crab’s perspective.
